With the opening of their new flagship store in Shanghai, China, Hot Toys announces a slew of exclusives to "celebrate this remarkable occasion" - that'll either send collectors in a state of toy-nirvana, or unbridled frenzy (for after market madness). No prices were revealed, along with the images on HT Facebook tho. This is one such item.

Hot Toys has just released images of their 1/4th-scale Collectible Busts based on the designs of the anticipated "Iron Man 3" feature film, and we get to see the armor designs (or at least upper torso) of Iron Man Mark XLII and War Machine! I really like how WM's look is developing into, I admit :)
Both sculpts feature light-up functions, with a rotatable shoulder-mounted gatling gun on War Machine. Do check with your fav retailer/vendor for availability and pricing!

After the previously posted teaser last week, Hot Toys starts off a brand new week with the full reveal of their upcoming WAR MACHINE (from the Iron Man 2 movie) in glorious articulated 1/6th-scale! Scheduled for an end-2nd quarter to early-3rd quarter 2010 release, the figure also features a "James Rhodes" facesculpt (with the likeness of actor "Don Cheadle") underneath the armor-mask, courtesy of Kojun (with paint and art direction by JC. Hong) ~ which surprisingly doesn't "wow" me ... but reckon as a figure itself, it may well appeal to collectors and hardcore IM-fans.

"When Stark lost his company to Obadiah Stane and relapsed into alcoholism, Rhodes took over the armor and role of Iron Man in Stark's stead, even fighting alongside Stark's colleagues in the Avengers during the Secret Wars. However, he began to experience headaches while using the armor, and over time, his behavior began to grow more erratic and aggressive, prone to violent solutions to given problems. Rhodes's manic mental state was later revealed to be the result of his using armors whose cerebral interfaces were calibrated for Stark's brain, leaving any other long-term user disoriented and confused. When Stark was on the road to recovery, he helped Rhodes maintain the armor, but Rhodes became increasingly paranoid, believing that Stark meant to retake the armor."
"Stark also subsequently designed a heavier-armed version of the Iron Man suit, the "Variable Threat Response Battle Suit" to battle the Masters of Silence, and it became known as the War Machine armor. and so Terence Howard (who seriously needs new headshots) is cast as Jim Rhodes in the Iron Manmovie (why do we need another mecha-man? ie: War Machine?) and i find my thruster-boots not quivering a single spitting-sputter ... but mention Famke Janssen? and even tho tis just a rumor, i sullied my shorts smile a big chesire grin i do *hyuks* :p
